GDPR

New data protection laws (called the ‘General Data Protection Regulation’ or ‘GDPR’) came into force on 25th May 2018. This legislation updates and replaces the existing Data Protection laws. You and your company will almost certainly be affected in some way.

What you need to do

The things you will need to do are split broadly into 2 areas – your policies and procedures; and your IT security. We strongly believe you need advice on both these areas – legal advice to ensure your policies and procedures comply with the new laws; and IT advice to ensure that you are holding and processing data securely. You need to consider both aspects and to take advice from suitably qualified experts in both fields.

We can help

We can help you understand how to ensure that your data (and the data you hold about others) is safe and secure and we can help you implement data security measures that will ensure you comply with the GDPR. For legal advice we recommend you speak to a legal expert for clarification on how the laws will affect you. We work with a local firm of lawyers to provide joint advice on GDPR so you can get coordinated advice from both legal and IT experts.

You can find out more on the Information Commissioner’s website.
